Read To Grow

Shitu is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, crafting compelling proposals and reports, and managing the grant application process to ensure Read to Grow continues to provide free books and literacy resources to families and children across Connecticut.  Passionate about education and equity, Shitu collaborates closely with program staff and leadership to align funding requests with Read to Grow’s strategic goals. Shitu is a Fulbright Scholar and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Naropa University. Her passion for early childhood literacy runs deep –she believes books are more than just stories; they are doorways to imagination, knowledge, and endless possibilities. An avid reader herself, she cherishes the magic of children’s literature, the way it ignites curiosity, fuels creativity, and opens young minds to worlds both real and imagined.

Her favorite children’s book is The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy.
